A total work of art in book form dedicated to the concept of Christian love.
Text: The Encyclical Deus caritas est.
With just five copies, this is also the highest expression of fine Italian craftsmanship that becomes art, representing the desire to enfold the holiest of words in the beauty they deserve.
"God is love; he who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him". Thus begins Benedict XVI's first Papal Encyclical. A text in Latin of great intensity and beauty, and thus a true representation of the advent of the Pope's highest teaching.
By revisiting the tradition of the finest age for the art of the book, Deus caritas est, a text of utmost cultural and symbolic value, has become a total work of art in book form, a work deserving of a place alongside the great ecclesiastical books of the past, when the sacred word was bedecked with the beauty of matter and form. "Bedecked", precisely, and embellished in a way deserving of the manuscript transcription of the original Latin for the Encyclical Deus caritas est: it was this idea that encouraged the Fondazione Marilena Ferrari-FMR to bring to fruition a project which is the only one of its kind in the world, and inspired by the ancient tradition of monastic scriptoria.
